CUNA Names 2023 CUNA Awards National Winners

Credit Union National Association’s (CUNA) National Awards Committee announced the 2023 recipients of the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award, Louise Herring Philosophy-in-Action Member Service Award, and Desjardins Awards for Financial Education. State Leagues across the nation select winners in various asset sizes, and these League winners are then considered for the national awards. 

“Congratulations to this year’s winners for the exemplary work done for their communities and the members they serve. These leaders have made it their mission as credit union advocates to promote financial well-being,” said CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle. “Each winner has demonstrated a passion in helping others, advancing their communities, and making a difference. I applaud their commitment to the credit union movement.”  

The Dora Maxwell Award honors credit unions for outstanding social responsibility projects in their communities. First-place winners are as follows: 

Birmingham City CU (AL) Community CU (ME) Guadalupe CU (NM) BECU (WA) Maine Credit Union League 

The Louise Herring Award recognizes credit unions that demonstrate the internal application of credit union philosophy to help better financial matters and increase financial education for its members. First-place winners are as follows: 

Members CU (CT) Peoples Advantage FCU (VA) TRUE Community CU (MI) Allegacy FCU (NC) 

The Desjardins Awards honors credit unions, chapters, and leagues for their commitment to both youth and adult financial literacy. First-place winners are as follows:  

Desjardins Youth 

Lake County Educational FCU (OH) Carolina Foothills FCU (SC) Atomic CU (OH) Abound CU (KY) 

Desjardins Adult
