Mazuma Credit Union is Bringing “I Love My Credit Union Day” Festivities to KC

In cooperation with Envisant, a subsidiary of the Illinois Credit Union League (ICUL), Kansas City’s Mazuma Credit Union will host I Love My Credit Union Day events at the majority of its branch locations across the metropolitan area on Friday, July 28th. I Love My Credit Union Day brings the global credit union movement together to inspire authentic and celebratory conversations about why Members love their credit unions. This year’s event builds on celebrations in 2022 that included participants from all 50 U.S. states and 11 countries around the world.

“The credit union movement has an incredible, worldwide impact through its philosophy of ‘people helping people’,” says Mazuma’s President and CEO, Deonne Christensen. “In addition, our purpose at Mazuma is to make life better for our Members, our Team Members, and our local community right here in Kansas City. I Love My Credit Union Day gives us a chance to highlight and celebrate the ways in which we are improving financial wellbeing and making a difference for the people we exist to serve.”

Mazuma will host celebrations at 10 of its branch locations around the city, offering free local treats to Members who stop in to do business or just to say hello. Members can enter a drawing to win a gift card when they fill out a note sharing what they love about their credit union. It’s a great opportunity for Members to visit their favorite branch, show appreciation for the Team Members who make a difference in their lives, and share in celebrating the credit union movement both locally and globally. Photos from the branch celebrations will be shared with others throughout the worldwide credit union community using #ilovemycreditunion.

“Credit unions in Kansas and Missouri provided over $250 Million in direct financial benefits to their Members in 2022,” says Laura Eblen, Mazuma’s VP of Member Engagement and Government Affairs. “I Love My Credit Union Day is a great opportunity to celebrate our Members and the impact of the Credit Union movement. Non-Members who may be curious about how credit unions are different are welcome to visit us as well! We’re always happy to talk about how credit unions help create better lives and more vibrant communities.”

Mazuma Credit Union, which is currently celebrating 75 years of Making Kansas City a Better Place to Live, Work, and Bank, serves over 73,000 Members in the Kansas City metropolitan area and is active in advocating for credit unions and their members at the state and federal levels. As a not-for-profit, Member-owned financial institution with a democratically elected, volunteer Board of Directors, it is able to offer Members lower loan rates, higher dividends, and fewer fees. I Love My Credit Union Day is one of the many ways Mazuma celebrates its Members, the credit union movement, and its Kansas City community year-round.
