Premier Members Credit Union Partners with Lincoln Hills Cares to bridge equity gap in outdoor education

PMCU connecting environmental sustainability, social equity, and education in new funding opportunity

Premier Members Credit Union (PMCU) has partnered with Colorado nonprofit Lincoln Hills Cares (LHC) to establish a scholarship fund to further their environmental education work with Denver youth who have been impacted by socio-economic disparities. This fund is expected to connect over 150 kids to LHC’s programming over the 2023 Summer Season, providing them with education around outdoor recreation, natural sciences, the environment, and cultural history.

“The core of all sustainability work is rooted in the need to ensure a livable and equitable world for those coming after us, and Lincoln Hills Cares embodies this mission in such a unique and beautiful way,” PMCU Sr Sustainability Specialist Garrett Chappell said. “When these kids get their hands dirty and interact with the beauty of Colorado’s nature, they establish a deep and lasting understanding that not only is there space for them in the outdoors but that they are part of the solution to defend and preserve those spaces. Their experience with outdoor education is vital for the ongoing protection of our environment.”

Lincoln Hills Cares Managing Director J.R. Lapierre added; “We are so grateful for the partnership with Premier Members Credit Union to establish a scholarship fund to further environmental education work with youth. PMCU’s commitment to connecting youth to LHC’s programming is truly inspiring and will have a lasting impact on the lives of these young people. Thank you PMCU, for recognizing the importance of outdoor education and for providing opportunities to explore and appreciate nature.”

If any organizations would like to take advantage of this fund and connect their youth to LHC’s programming, please reach out to Tim Flynn at tim@lhcares.org.
