Solarity Surpasses Blood Drive Goal, Filling Critical Need in the Yakima Valley

Solarity Credit Union teamed up with the Red Cross Yakima Blood Donation Center to host a blood drive to collect desperately-needed units of blood, including power red (concentrated red blood cells). The Red Cross set a goal of 16 units for the credit union’s inaugural blood drive; Solarity members and employees blew past the goal, donating 29 units.

"This donation is remarkable,” said JayAnn Chacon, Donor Recruitment Account Manager with the Pacific Northwest Blood Services Region of the Red Cross. “It’s rare for a first-time location to have such a successful drive, and Solarity exceeded our expectations for sure.” She added, “We’re so grateful for the generosity they’ve shown and for rallying together to help fill this need!”

Solarity’s blood drive was especially timely, as the Red Cross is currently calling donors of all blood types to give now and keep the blood supply strong enough to support critical patient care this spring. Donation days like this are imperative in supporting the Red Cross mission of providing lifesaving blood to hospitals in the Yakima community and beyond.

Solarity plans to continue supporting the Red Cross with additional drives throughout the year. If you would like to assist the Red Cross by donating blood on your own, please visit their website to learn how you can help make a difference.
